The STNA Junior Leadership Program, founded in 1998, identifies junior members aged between 14-16 with the potential to become future leaders within their clubs or our Association.

Traditionally the program has offered instruction in coaching, umpiring and club administration and over time it has evolved to include sessions on first aid, roster formulation and the organisation of the Australian Netball League round matches.

The Junior Leadership program has now run successfully for 22 years. In 2013 the program had a great new addition with its first ever sponsor, Senator Carol Brown.

The Senator explained how great it is to identify juniors with limited or no previous coaching or umpiring experience and allow them to learn for the future betterment of our Association.

Senator Carol Brown hosted a session explaining that women can achieve any goal in life, as long as they put their mind to it and have the drive to pursue it. The Senator was the perfect presenter for this session having achieved so much in her own life.

In this 13 week program the leaders are exposed to both rewarding and challenging experiences. The beauty of the Junior Leadership program is not only the participant’s dedication to learn new netball related skills but the friendships the girls build with members from other clubs within our Association.

Nominations for the Junior Leadership Program will only be accepted from club officials. A link will be sent to the officials a month prior to the application closing date.
