    The Junior Leadership Program, established in 1998, has seen well over one hundred and ninety young members graduate, with many of those graduates taking on leadership roles within our clubs and the Southern Tasmanian Netball Association itself.

     

    Purpose:

    The main focus of the Junior Leadership Program is to give young members the skills and resources they need to become a leader within their club, and the association. These skills are easily transferrable to other aspects of the junior leaders life.

     

    Learning Outcomes:

    Through this program, participants will gain knowledge on a variety of subjects relating to netball and beyond. By the end of the program, we expect participants will have gained a greater knowledge in the following areas;

    • Coaching

      • Including Foundation Coaching Course

    • Umpiring

      • Including Online Netball Theory Exam

    • Health & Nutrition

    • Sports Injury Management

    • Mental Health & Wellbeing

    • Netball in the Media

    • Women in Leadership

    • The Importance of Culture

    • Sports Funding & Grants

     

    The Junior Leadership Program also allows participants to help out with STNA events towards the end of the season. These events include;

    • Zambrero Premier League MVP Count

    • STNA Presentation Evening

    • Zambrero Premier League Grand Final Night

    • STNA Winter Roster Grand Finals

    •  

    Participants will be invited to attend the Junior Presentation Night on the 30th of August 2024, to celebrate their achievements and receive their graduation certificate.

     

     

    Program Pre-Requisites:

    • Aged 14-16 as at 31/12/2024

    • Must be a current STNA member

     

    Program Details:

    • JLP is held 4.30-6pm Thursdays starting 9th May for twelve weeks, not including school holidays

    • Junior Leaders receive a JLP vest

    • After school snacks will be provided

    Successful nominees are required to attend all sessions. The program will commence with the team building session 4.30pm Thursday 9th May in the glass room at STNA.

     

    Please contact a club official if you would like to nominate for the 2024 JLP.

     

    Nominations will only be accepted from club officials by 29th April 2024.

    Costs:

    $90 per person (invoiced to clubs) – for JLP vest and snacks each week

    $70 Foundation coaching course – at the cost of the participant

    $12.50 Online Netball Theory Exam – at the cost of the participant
