    STNA DIRECTOR POSITIONS

    The Southern Tasmanian Netball Association (STNA) is currently seeking nominations for three Board Director positions to be elected at the 2024 Annual General Meeting - President, Treasurer and Secretary.

     

    In accordance with the Association’s constitution, to be eligible for election to the Board of Management individuals must be over the age of 18 and not be a current director on the board of one of the Association’s Netball Club Member organisations.

     

    The role of President is a key leadership position that is responsible for providing inclusive leadership to the Board and for ensuring effective governance systems are in place. The President is the main contact for the Associations Member Netball Clubs, and is responsible for providing support to the STNA General Manager including being available to represent the interests of the Association with a variety of stakeholders including government, sponsors and the broader netball community. The Board welcomes interest from individuals with professional or volunteer experience in a similar role.

     

    Nominations for the role of Treasurer do not require formal qualifications  in finance or accounting, and the Board welcomes interest from individuals with professional or volunteer experience that may be relevant to the requirements of this role, which provides oversight of the financial activities of the Association with the day-to-day responsibilities undertaken by the STNA management team and professional accounting services. Access to training can be provided.

     

    Experience in the legal sector would be preferred for for those nominating for the role of Secretary, however the Board welcomes interest from individuals with professional or volunteer experience that may be relevant to the other requirements of this role.

    Not-for-profit governance experience is not essential, and the STNA will consider applications from individuals who have no prior Board experience.

     

    The STNA is committed to increasing the diversity of its Board and welcomes expressions of interest from individuals who may identify as culturally or linguistically diverse or as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Expressions of interest are also encouraged from male applicants to contribute towards a stronger gender balance on the Board.

     

    Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (excluding January) and generally last up to two hours (and can be accessed remotely). Board Directors may also be asked to participate in Board discussions out-of-session as required.
